Whatsapp has been in the news almost daily because of some news item or another. According to reports, WhatsApp is busy creating new features for its users.
Indeed, one of the main disadvantages of using WhatsApp Web is that you have to keep your smartphone connected to the Internet. To avoid this inconvenience, WhatsApp has been working on multi-device support for some time now.
The messaging giant is now preparing a beta test program for WhatsApp Web. The test program, which will soon be available for Android and iOS users using beta versions of WhatsApp, will therefore allow users to test the possibility of using WhatsApp Web without keeping their smartphones connected to the Internet.
According to WABetaInfo, you can link up to four desktop devices if you participate in the beta program. Keep in mind that other WhatsApp users need to update their app if you want to chat with them. Additionally, the report states that you can make calls if the person is using a recent version of WhatsApp.
Only in a beta program- Whatsapp web
At this time, the WhatsApp Web beta program is not available to all users of the WhatsApp beta version. That said, we could expect the company to expand the beta program to all testers shortly, if possible in the coming weeks. The test program would be available for both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business applications.
WhatsApp has been working behind the scenes to bring cross-device support to desktop and web platforms without depending on your smartphone for quite some time now. There are reports from July 2019 that hint at WhatsApp’s goal of allowing users to use the platform without the smartphone. Given how the company is gearing up to launch a test program, it’s safe to assume that the feature could arrive on WhatsApp in the coming months.
