Billionaire Elon Musk once again took part in a podcast By Joe Rogan, in which he shared his plans for a new model Tesla Roadster, which is to see the light of day in 2022. Also, the entrepreneur told which state, in his opinion, will host a new “Silicon Valley” after all the technology companies leave California.
The guest of Joe Rogan’s podcast for the third time was billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk. The new issue of Joe Rogan Experience was posted on the Spotify platform.
One of the topics raised in the discussion was Tesla’s electric car company, Tesla. It is known that for the last couple of years the engineer promises to install compact rocket engines in the new model of the Roadster car. Now Musk is determined to make sure that the package of “space” improvements allowed the machine not only to become faster but also to hover above the ground.

“I want her to fly, I’m trying to figure out how to do it so, you know, no one can be killed”
According to him, the height at which the Roadster will soar will be about a meter, but it is necessary to make sure that in case of possible fall neither the driver nor the passengers are injured.
As the Verge notes, if the billionaire manages to bring this idea to life, it will become a headache for regulators. The second generation of the Roadster is expected to be released in 2022, so it won’t be long before Musk’s “flying” electric car.
Previously, the CEO of Tesla has already been seen in the introduction of unusual functions in their electric cars, which differ from the usual perceptions of the mass consumer about the car.
Last month, for example, a redesign of the Model S and Model X was announced, which will feature a U-shaped steering wheel instead of a standard wheel.
During the interview, Joe Rogan asked Musk whether it was legal to use such a steering wheel on the roads.
“Of course. They’re used in Formula One” the billionaire said.
“Yes, but you don’t drive on the highway in a Formula One car. I like to drive with my hand on the top of the steering wheel,” Rogan said.
Musk said tesla’s autopilot system works well enough to keep the driver’s hands from getting tired of long trips. He added that as rest you can put your hand on your knee.
In addition to Tesla, Rogan and Musk discussed the billionaire’s recent move from California to Texas. Last summer, the head of Tesla chose the Texas capital Austin as the location for the company’s new Gigafactory, which will produce and assemble the Cybertruck electric pickup. Musk believes Austin has great potential.
“It will be the biggest boom city America has ever seen in 50 years” the entrepreneur says.
He said he chose Austin to build a new factory because he reminded him of “mini-California.”
Last year, Musk had a fight with California authorities over a mismatch of views on the measures taken in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new coronavirus has also caused an outflow of startups and other businesses from Silicon Valley due to the high cost of housing and offices.
In 2020, IT giant Oracle announced a move to Austin from California. Media outlets have also previously reported that the Texas capital was chosen to live and do business with Dropbox CEO Drew Houston and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale. It is possible that the new Silicon Valley can really be located in Austin, and Elon Musk, known for his progressive views, once again will be at the top of the trend.
