Introducing the Google Pixel 6

For starters, the Pixel 6 takes advantage of a 6.4-inch Full HD + OLED panel with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. A Gorilla Glass Victus will be there to protect the screen. Inside, the smartphone is equipped with a Google Tensor chip coupled with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. To protect user privacy, Google has added the Titan M2 chip in particular.

In terms of photosensors, the Pixel 6 takes advantage of a wide angle of 50 Mpx and an ultra-wide angle of 12 Mpx with a FOV of 114 °. These will be supported by a laser autofocus sensor, a spectral flicker sensor, but also optical stabilization. Regarding the front of the smartphone, there is an 8 MP selfie camera. Note, the software processing of photos will be boosted by the arrival of the Google Tensor processor, in particular for the magic eraser tool to remove subjects from a photo, portrait mode, or even the capture of a video in 4K 60 FPS.

Finally, the Pixel 6 is IP68 certified and benefits from a 4614 mAh battery compatible with 30W fast charging.

The differences with the Pixel 6 Pro

Not surprisingly, the Pixel 6 Pro comes to benefit from many improvements compared to its little brother. To begin with, its screen is armed with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a QHD + definition as well as an adaptive refresh rate oscillating between 10 Hz and 120 Hz depending on the uses. The smartphone is then equipped with the Google Tensor processor, but with 12 GB of RAM and still 128 GB of internal storage.

On the photography side, the Pro model comes with an additional sensor: a 48 Mpx telephoto lens with x4 optical zoom and optical stabilization. The selfie sensor is 11.1 Mpx. To power everything, the Google Pixel 6 Pro has a 5003 mAh battery that is also compatible with 30W fast charging.

Pricing and availability

Finally, the two smartphones come equipped with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC technology, a SIM slot, and an e-Sim.

Pixel 6 will be available on October 25, 2021. Pre-orders are already open. The Pixel 6 is priced at 649 euros in Ocean Gray and Carbon Black. While the Pixel 6 Pro is simply armed with a Carbon Black color for the sum of 899 euros.
