During this keynote of September 14, there were not only for the iPhone 13. As usual, alongside the latest smartphones from Apple, we were able to discover a new generation of connected watches. With the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple is once again focusing on health with its connected watch.
Some new features for WatchOS 8
Apple continues to push the limits of the Apple Watch to make it more and more essential. Today, Apple is bringing new features to the Apple Watch. First of all, watchOS 8 detects if you are riding a bike and adds fall detection by analyzing movements in real-time. Apple Watch improves support for e-bikes. The watch includes a new and improved exercise algorithm that better calculates calories. In addition, watchOS 8 adds the mindfulness application and the “memories” of photos.
Apple Watch Series 7 has a bigger screen
The new Apple Watch Series 7 combines all the functionality of version 6 with a larger screen. According to Apple, this is the most advanced of their Retina displays. The watch offers almost 20% more screens than the Series 6. This is even more impressive compared to the Series 3 with a 50% larger screen.
Thanks to this increase in the size of the screens, more information can thus be displayed.
The Series 7 display has been completely reinvented to reduce the edges to just 1.7mm – it’s 40% thinner than the old version. The shape of the watch has also been reworked: the Series 7 screen and case both have rounded corners.
The new screen refracts light at its edges making it appear even larger. The screen is also 70% brighter. It holds almost 50% more text than Series 6. Apple also incorporates new functions for writing text: there is a full keyboard.
We will find new dials specifically designed for this watch, including dynamic dials. A new modular dial uses the larger screen with wider complications as well.
Improved autonomy and charging
According to Apple, the Series 7 is the most durable Apple Watch ever. A sapphire crystal window protects this large screen. It is also the first Apple Watch to have the IP 6X certification, which guarantees dust tightness of course, like the previous versions, it is waterproof.
Apple claims 18 hours of battery life. Apple also improves charging: its watch changes almost 33% faster than the Series 6. With a charging architecture modified in USB-C, it takes only 45 minutes to go from 0 to 80%. Eight minutes of charging is enough to track sleep for eight hours.
